Many of the students we support are very talented people, with lots of relevant work experience from their home country. However, they can struggle to access rewarding employment in the UK because they don't know how the UK job market works and they don't have the networks people born in the UK do.

We want to provide support to RefuNet students who are trying to access employment by helping them to work out the best career path for them, identify training opportunities, understand how best to apply for jobs and build their own networks. Therefore, we are launching a new employment support service to do this.

Our dedicated Employment Advisor is working with people on a 1-1 basis to help identify their needs and to signpost them to organisations / people who can help. We are building a network of people with experience across a broad range of industries who can provide advice and support. The support will be provided on a more ad-hoc basis than our lessons, and can be one-off or ongoing. In particular, we are looking for people who can help with:

• Interview prep (e.g., 1-4 sessions with someone in the run-up to an interview)

• One-off sessions to answer questions about finding employment in your sector

• Longer-term mentoring (e.g., 1-2 sessions a month)
